Linda Daly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hinchliff-Pearson-West, Inc., Galesburg on Mar. 30, 2026.
Linda Iola Daly, 78, of Galesburg, entered Heaven peacefully at Seminary Manor on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was born March 20, 1948, in Galesburg, the daughter of Dale and Mary Iola (Norberg) Murdock. She graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa in 1966. On March 24, 1974, Linda married the love of her life, John E. Daly, in Galesburg. Together they cherished raising their two beautiful daughters.

In her early years, Linda worked at Younker's and with her father at his chiropractic office. After her girls were born, she stayed home and was the best momma ever. She enjoyed children so much that she operated a home daycare for many years, where she was affectionately known as Pooh Bear.

Linda also spent time volunteering with the Galesburg Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army. She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed greeting others with her infectious smile. She was also a member of T.O.P.S. and the Knox County Home Extension. Linda enjoyed baking, traveling, fishing and playing cards and dice. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John; daughters, Dalene (Jesus) Gonzalez of Galesburg and Jennie (Jaime Aldaco) Gonzalez of Kewanee; and four grandchildren, Emalyn, Aliyah, Josiah, and Mekhi Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Iola Murdock and her brother, Carol Murdock.

Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Galesburg First Church of the Nazarene. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jade Rogers officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene or the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
