Linda Ferguson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Osborn Funeral Home - Shreveport on Mar. 16, 2024.
On March 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, Linda Gay Chase Ferguson moved to her Heavenly Home and was instantly in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Zwolle, LA at 10:00 A.M. Later in the day, Linda's life will be celebrated in the sanctuary of her home church, First Methodist Church - Shreveport at 1:00 P.M. A reception will follow in Couch Parlor.
Linda Gay Chase was born on March 31, 1944, to Mae Bell Ross Chase and Victor Woodrow Chase in Pleasant Hill, LA. Linda, with her parents, moved from Pleasant Hill to Zwolle when she was in the fourth grade. Her parents taught school and all three made precious, lifelong friends. After high school, Linda attended Louisiana College in Pineville, LA where, besides being named to Who's Who in Universities and Colleges, she was active in many organizations - adding to her "friends for a lifetime." Several months after graduating in May 1965, Linda married Joseph "Jody" Clark Ferguson, Jr. in Zwolle on September 4.
Following his lumber career, Jody and Linda spent their marriage working together every day in a wide variety of ventures. With Linda at the helm, La Tienda Lingerie served customers in Shreveport, Bossier City, Monroe, Tyler, TX and Texarkana, TX for over 30 years. She also formed a nationwide buying group with other small business owners that enabled small mastectomy care retailers to successfully compete with large businesses for personalized, compassionate care and continuing education.
Despite balancing multiple successful businesses, Linda and Jody still made time for their loving children, grandchildren and friends. If there was a mere suggestion of travel, Linda was ready to go. She traveled the world with friends and after retiring, adored each moment with her grandchildren.
She used her own grief over Jody's sudden passing to rekindle a now vital Stephen Ministry program in her church. She loved being part of the First Methodist Church Choir, serving as its president for several years, and also taught the Children's Choir at one time.
Linda considered anyone she became friends with to be "family." That was especially true of her Desiderata Sunday School Class. Some of Linda's most precious friends (sisters and brothers of the heart) are members of this class, having walked with each other through good times and bad.
Rarely seen without a needle and thread, Linda was a lifetime member of the Embroidery Guild of America, at times serving as president of the Shreveport Rose Chapter and South Central Regional Director. Since being diagnosed with Parkinson's, she was a proud member of the "Rock Steady Boxing Group" at the Knight St. YMCA and fearlessly fought the disease, buoyed by her fellow boxers.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jody, her brother Zane Chase and his wife June. Surviving Linda are her daughter Honour Ferguson Zucco and her husband Anthony J. Zucco, their children Caitlin Zucco Nasworthy and husband Nate, Ty Anthony Zucco and John Lincoln Zucco; Linda's son Joseph Clark Ferguson, III, and wife Kay Elmore Ferguson and their son Joseph Clark Ferguson, IV; Linda's sister-in-law Elizabeth Ferguson Benz of Houston and her family; several adored nieces and a nephew and their families, and numerous members of her extended, blended heart family.
Linda's family would like to thank LifePath Hospice. The nurses, social workers, doctors, pastors, and assistants were filled with compassion for not only Linda, but for her family as well. They especially thank Lashelle Laneaux, Connie Dukes, Crystal Williams, and Twyla Hernandez, for their care of Linda and her family these last months.
Linda loved to serve. She loved to serve the Lord and she loved to serve His people. Linda would appreciate any memorial be made to the First Methodist Church for her beloved Stephen Ministry, or to a charity of personal choice in Linda's memory.
Those of us who loved Linda, whether as Mom, as Grandmother or Lao Lao, as a sister, cousin, aunt, or friend, we are comforted by the final verse that Linda underlined in her Bible and will use this to navigate our days ahead. Psalm 119:105. "Thy word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path."

Linda Ferguson was an icon of everything good. She taught by example-treating everyone she met with kindness and acceptance. Her exuberance for life was contagious. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.

My memories of Linda are many and varied. I've known her for more than 50 years. I have vivid memories of a whirlwind trip to Europe, sharing a love of antiques - especially her uranium glass, and of being trusted to watch over her two adorable children, the sweet Honour and the ever unpredictable "Bad Apple" Joe. She loved you both and I know you loved and cared for her to the end. Though I know it was not entirely unexpected, I can imagine the loss you feel, and I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was an amazing lady, and she will be missed!
