Paula Rembert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Osborn Funeral Home - Shreveport on Mar. 6, 2026.
Paula Easley Rembert, M.D.
Paula was born April 24, 1950, in Natchitoches, Louisiana and passed away unexpectedly March 2, 2026 at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Paula was preceeded in death by her parents, Robert Easley and Rosemary Baker and her sister Bettye Kay Simandl. She is survived by her husband, Greg Rembert, children Robert Rembert (Natalie), Norman, Oklahoma, Thomas Rembert, Berkeley, California, and Jennifer Ostroski (Larry), North Salt Lake, Utah. Grandchildren Norah, Eliza and Heather Rembert and Avila and Henry Ostroski. Her sister Mary Frances Garner, Denton, Texas, brothers-in-law Bob Simandl, Sauk City, Wisconsin and Bill Rembert (Wanda), Heflin, Louisiana. Paula also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Paula had a long and rewarding career as an Ob/Gyn in Shreveport until she was forced into retirement in 2016, having suffered a debilitating spinal cord injury. Over the last ten years Paula has shown great resilience and determination. She always has had a positive outlook and knew she would get better every day. Her first passion, however, was botany. She received a Master of Science in Botany at LSU and had an immense knowledge and love of plants. She was always a go-to source for plant identification as many will attest to.

Paula was very creative and had many hobbies including photography, collecting all types of frog items, and decorative gift wrapping. She especially loved making cards, all hand stamped, and sending them to her friends and family for many occasions, particularly Halloween. Some probably are still finding bits of confetti that fell from the envelopes.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity of your choice.

I met Paula while she was serving on the staff at Ridgecrest Baptist assembly in Ridgecrest, North Carolina. She was a dedicated staffer as well as a fervent Christian. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and patients.

Greg and Family,
I'm truly sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers in this time of great sorrow. I had the honor and privilege of meeting Paula many years ago at one of the Christmas parties held by Schumpert. She was always nice to us and that's what made her special. Peace be with you.
