Linda Powers Ferri, 73, of
Greene, RI, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2026, with her family by her side.
Born on October 14, 1952, in
Warwick, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Murielle (Poulin) Powers. Linda married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Michael A. Ferri, and together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage built on love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Linda was a passionate and energetic Home Economics Teacher whose career spanned four decades. She dedicated 28 years to Deering Middle School in West Warwick and 12 years to Tourtellotte Memorial High School in Connecticut. Her love for education inspired her daughters to follow in her footsteps and become teachers themselves, continuing her legacy as an educator.
She had a deep love for the outdoors, especially gardening and going for long walks with her husband. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, whether playing together or proudly cheering them on at their sporting events. She was a former cheerleader in her younger years, she carried that same vibrant spirit and energy with her throughout her life.
Linda was an avid Beatles fan whose love for their music became one of her great joys. She even traveled to Liverpool with a group of fellow Beatles enthusiasts she had never met before, embracing the adventure and forming lasting memories.
She was also a deeply loyal friend who treasured her lifelong relationships. Above all, she was someone people naturally gravitated toward, bringing out the best in everyone around her.
In addition to her husband, Michael, she is survived by her three daughters: Kayla McDonough and her husband, David, of Goldens Bridge, NY; Abby Thorp and her husband, Jesse, of
Greene, RI; and May Kiselica and her husband, Kevin, of
Greene, RI. She was the proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren; Zoey, Wyatt, Axl, Vada, Brooke, and Shane - who affectionately called her "Mimi". She is also survived by her siblings: Susan Lague and her husband, Paul; Esther Powers and her late husband, Dana Cole; Stephen Powers and his wife, Donna; and William Powers and his wife, Cynthia, along with several loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
