Bowman Funeral Directors - Garden CityLinda Jo Fisher, 81, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in Boise, ID. A beloved mother, sister, and friend, Linda will be remembered for her adventurous spirit and dedication to her family.
Born in Alliance, OH, on July 30, 1944, Linda lived a life filled with purpose and joy. She began her distinguished career in healthcare with a nursing diploma before furthering her education with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Akron University. Her career was marked by a passion for helping others, from caring for the youngest patients in neonatal care to sharing her knowledge as an instructor at Children’s Hospital in Akron (while raising two children of her own). She later brought skills and experience to her work as a Medicaid Fraud Investigator for the state of North Carolina, from which she retired in 2011.
Linda was a woman of many passions. A lifelong bridge enthusiast, she loved the strategy of the game and the camaraderie. She also enjoyed golfing and bowling for many years, mostly for the social ties they furthered. As a teenager, she was a skillful jitter-bugger, a testament to her vibrant and energetic spirit.
Her love of travel took her on many adventures, with cruises being her preferred mode of exploration. She traveled the world with her sisters and friends, creating cherished memories in places like Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Italy, Germany, and France.
Linda's greatest love was her family. She is survived by her two children, Jennifer Green (Michael) of Boise, ID, and Timothy Doherty of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves behind her sisters, Donna Campbell (Kurt) and Karen Moormann, and her granddaughters, Michaela and Kate. Her two beloved kitties, Suki and Cosmo, brought her great comfort and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Fisher, and her sister, Beverly Mohler.
Family and friends are invited to attend a mass celebrating Linda’s life on Saturday, December 20, at 11 a.m. at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 663 Fernwood Blvd., Alliance, OH. A lunch gathering will follow the mass, allowing all who knew and loved Linda to share stories and memories.
