Linda Shepherd Freeman, 79, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11 AM in the Saint Peter Catholic Church Spiritual Life Center located at 2700 E. 4th Street in Greenville, NC.
Linda lived most of her life in Durham, where she graduated from Durham High School. She worked in property management for many years and also owned and operated long term care facilities. In recent months, she moved to eastern North Carolina to be closer to family. Linda's passion was country and western music. At the age of 18 she went to Nashville and recorded 2 records. One of her songs made it on the Billboard Top 100 list. She made many wonderful memories during her singing career and enjoyed composing songs for each of her beautiful grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Inez Keaton; and her brother, Ralph Keaton, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, John Freeman; sons, Don Wayne Shepherd, Jr. and wife, Margie, of Tampa, FL; and Wes Shepherd and wife, Lisa, of Greenville; grandchildren, Donald Wayne Shepherd, III of Tallahassee, FL, Dalton Wesley Shepherd and wife, Hayley, Daylon Wells Shepherd, Caroline Ann Shepherd, and Davison Charles Shepherd, all of Tampa, FL, Mary Coleman Shepherd and spouse, Leslie, Wesley Jennings Shepherd and Eva Layton Shepherd, all of Greenville; and her beloved dog, Ms. Twinkie Star Freeman.
