We sadly announce the passing of Linda P. (Blodgett) Friis on Thursday April 17, 2025, who died at just 68 years old. Linda was the devoted wife of the late Bruce D. Friis.
Born in Bridgeport on August 17, 1956, Linda was the daughter of the late John and Patricia (Shugrue) Blodgett. Growing up in Stratford, she graduated from Bunnell High School. For 30 years, Linda was a dedicated registrar in the Emergency Department of Bridgeport Hospital. A pillar of the Bridgeport Hospital community, the number of lives she touched and changed are limitless. Linda had a fantastic sense of humor, a straightforward mentality and was known to be a bit sassy (particularly on overnight shifts). She enjoyed bingo, reading a good book poolside while tanning and of course, her beloved Sunday night football. She married Bruce in 1987. They resided in Waterbury, Connecticut and then found their forever home in
Wolcott, Connecticut where they raised their daughter Rebecca.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her daughter Rebecca and her husband Waldy Ventura, their children Maya and Elijah Ventura, her son Anthony and his wife Kayleigh Goldberg, their two daughters Ryleigh and Harper, her step children Christine Friis Hirshberg, Jody Friis and their respective spouses among many children and grandchildren, and her dear lifelong friend and sister by choice Diane Aguzzi and her children Sandra, Jackie and Matthew and their respective spouses and children who, for all intents and purposes, regarded Linda as their aunt and family member. In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was predeceased by her sister Laurie Blodgett and her brother Keith Blodgett.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Linda's life on Thursday April 24th during calling hours from 5 to 7 PM at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Visit www.woodtickmemorial.com for online condolences.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Monetary contributions may also be made to be placed in a CD for her two beloved grandchildren, who were her entire world.
Linda's family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary's hospital for the compassionate care provided to her, and the outstanding support they provided for her family during and after her passing.
