On a beautiful day, September 11, 2025, our beloved mom, grandma, and wife Linda passed on from this life to her next adventure.
Linda was born on November 15, 1945, in
Salt Lake City, Utah, to Oscar and Lois Jean Osborn. She was the second of three children. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School in 1964.
In the fall of 1967, she met the love of her life, Leland "Hoss" Gibbons. They were married on March 22, 1968, and together raised four wonderful children. For 40 years, they made their home in West Valley before moving to West Jordan.
The summer following high school, Linda worked at Yellowstone National Park, creating memories that stayed with her throughout her life.
After that, she worked at Dirks Field and the Salt Palace in the concession stands.
She later worked various jobs throughout her career. She started as a car hop for Don Carlos, honed her skills sewing at Pike's Manufacturing, and later devoted many years at Mervyn's in the gift wrap department, which she dearly loved. She also worked at the Rape Recovery Center. Linda had a gift for service and a smile that made everyone feel special.
She also loved crafts, painting, and serving her community. Always learning and growing, Linda became certified in NLP, Reiki, Theta, and hypnosis, using her knowledge to bless the lives of others. She gave her time generously to causes such as the Festival of Trees. She especially enjoyed going to car shows with Lee (Hoss) in their '64 Chevy Impala and '58 Chevy Bel Air. Traveling brought her joy, and one of her greatest recent highlights was going on a Caribbean cruise this April and visiting Mount Rushmore in July.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lois Jean; her sister and brother-in-law, Jon and Barbara Griego; her brother Glen and niece Becky; her mother- and father-in-law, Nadine and Leland Gibbons Sr.; her brother-in-law, Ed Gibbons; her dogs Patches and Freckles; along with other beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her devoted husband Lee (Hoss); her children Matt, Corrin (Cody), Eric (Val), and Emily (Brett); her 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her two dogs, Reggie and Buster.
A special thanks to Holly and the wonderful staff at Simbi Hospice who cared for Linda with such kindness and compassion in her last few months.
With infinite gratitude to Emily and Brett for their sacrifice, time, patience, and care they gave to Mom over the past 9 years.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful friends and neighbors who shared kindness and support in her final months.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Glenmoor Golf Course, 9800 S 4800 W, South Jordan, Utah, on September 28 from 3 to 6 PM on the patio. At 3:30, family and friends are invited to share their memories of Linda.
Her love, laughter, and light will continue to shine through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
