Linda Lee Gillis, age 83, of Shallotte, NC died Monday, May 19, 2025, at Novant Health Hospital, Bolivia, NC.

Linda was born on July 10, 1941, in Sims, IN to George and Rosetta Riley.

After graduating at the top of her class at nursing school, Linda spent much of her life providing medical care for others as a nurse in various hospitals, physician practices and nursing facilities. After her nursing career, and after marrying her husband, Buster Gillis, she served as the First Mate on the Sea Hawk III fishing charter boat out of Holden Beach (which somewhat surprisingly resulted in minor damage only to Buster's boat).

Linda enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, sporting events, working in the yard and around the house, hunting and fishing. Most of all, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Linda is survived by her husband: Charles "Buster" Gillis of Shallotte, NC; sons: Kevin Moyer (Stacey) of Indianapolis, IN; Kyle Moyer (Tracey) of Mooresville, NC; Kelly Moyer (Amy) of Orlando, FL; Kerry Moyer (Danielle) of Harrod, OH; daughters: Kimberly Stanley (Tony) of Crawfordsville, IN; Kami Rex (Aaron) of Wapakoneta, OH; stepson: Charles "Chuck" Gillis of Shallotte, NC; sisters: Joyce Frank of Greenwood, IN; and Becky DeWitt of Cookeville, TN: and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Brunswick Funeral Service, 5229 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel. The burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
