Mrs. Linda Shurling Goodman, age 77, of North Avenue, Sandersville, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Augusta with her family by her side. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sandersville Methodist Church, with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Jared Middleton and Reverend Roger Holley will officiate. Serving as active pallbearers will be Randy Branan , Randy Helton, Randy Mayberry, Carwin Avant, Gene Renfroe, Lance Wallace, Lester Lord, and Rob Gatlif. Members past and present, of the Asbury Sunday School Class, will sit as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Goodman's family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Linda was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, daughter of the late Charles Thomas Shurling and the late Teresa Stanley Shurling. She graduated from Washington County High School, class of 1966, and from Crandall College in Macon, as an executive secretary. For many years Linda operated a daycare from her home, caring for numerous children. She was also active as a Girl Scout leader with her girls. Linda was a staple at the Sandersville Methodist Church, where she was a long-time active member. She was a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class, where she served as class treasurer since 1967. During her lifetime, Linda served her church in numerous roles including church hostess. Later in life, Linda owned and operated the Dollar Junction. She most recently was serving on the First Love Kids board of directors. It is evident by Linda's yard she cherished flowers. Cooking and putting together puzzles were her favorite pastimes. She loved traveling, especially to the mountains, and her beloved cats were considered a part of her family. In addition to her parents, Linda is predeceased by her husband James H. Goodman and siblings, Mary S. Bruce and Tommy Shurling.
Survivors include her daughters, Amy G. Screws and her husband Tony and Emily G. Johnson all of Sandersville; her son-in-law, Wayne Johnson; granddaughters, Bethany Screws and her fiancé Peyton Schuyler and Rachel Nicole Kicklighter; great grandchildren, Cathryn Kicklighter and Camryn Kicklighter; her sister, Sue Tompkins and her husband Frank of Oconee and her sister-in-law Cynthia G. Barron of Lilburn.
