Obituary for Linda Hazaleus Linda Lue (Thomson) Hazaleus, age 75, passed away at her beloved "Farm Resort" in Coleman, OK on September 26, 2025. Linda married her lifelong love, John Hazaleus, in Alamosa, Colorado July 10, 1970. Together, they built a life full of faith, family, and ranch living. For 35 years, Linda devoted herself to teaching and impacting countless children's lives in the classroom. She was a member of Fusion Bible Church in Durant. Linda's faith was the guiding light of her life, best expressed in the words of Joshua 24:15: "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Before moving to Oklahoma in 2015 to follow her grandkids' adventures, she was a resident of Wheatland, Wyoming, where Linda treasured her years in the mountains. She loved the beauty of the open skies, rugged landscape, wildlife, and the mountains that brought her great joy. Those years deepened her love of the land and gave her memories and lifelong friendships she carried warmly into her Oklahoma life. Linda and John fondly called their Coleman home their "Farm Resort". She loved ranch life in Oklahoma-every day brought joy in working cattle, fishing, hunting, and simply enjoying the land she called home. She had a passion for antiquing and collecting treasures, and she never missed a chance to decorate for the holidays. Most of all, she loved following her grandkids' sports and rodeo events, cheering them on with unmatched pride. Linda's presence in the bleachers was unmistakable. Known for her iconic, ear-catching whistle, she could cut through the noise of any announcer or rodeo arena to cheer on her grandkids. And if you happened to pronounce "Hazaleus" wrong, she wouldn't hesitate to make her way up to the announcer's booth to walk you through it - all with that same mix of conviction and kindness that made her unforgettable. Even then, you'd walk away not only knowing how to say the name right, but also feeling like you'd known Linda your whole life - and that you'd just gained a new friend. Time with her family was her greatest blessing, and her relationships were the heart of her life. She is survived by her husband, John Hazaleus of Coleman, OK; children Lynn Hazaleus Kober, of Silo, OK, and Jeff and Rebeca Hazaleus of Blue, OK; grandchildren Savannah Kober Womack of Achille, OK; Shaelynn and Carter Hazaleus of Blue, OK. She is also survived by her siblings Betsy Hall, and Terry Thomson. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Dean and Ruby Thomson, son in law Rick Kober, and sister in law Trudy Thomson. The family and Church are holding a Celebration of Life service at Fusion Bible Church in Durant, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 3, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda's memory to your local youth rodeo association-reflecting her lifelong love of hauling her son to rodeos and supporting her grandkids in the arena-or to a teacher, classroom, or school of your choice, honoring her decades of devotion to education. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, faithful teacher, and steadfast supporter of all those she loved.
