Linda Kay Herndon

Linda Kay Herndon passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 7, 2025. Linda is survived by her husband, John Lynn Herndon; children, Robby Herndon, Susan Herndon; Renea Kern and her husband Brian; seven grandchildren, Jeff Herndon and his wife Erica, Robert Herndon and his wife Marisa, Amber Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins and his wife Taylor, Casey Guthrie, Cole Kern and Ryan Kern; nine great-grandchildren, Adriana, Toby, Drew, Greyson, Colby, Paislee, Tynlee, Blakely, Ryder and another on the way. She also leaves behind her brother, Michael Metzler; sister-in-law Tammy Metzler; her niece, Erika Holland and her nephew, Brett Metzler.
Linda married John on November 5, 1964, and together they raised three children. They just had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. She worked for Lucent Technologies for 10 years, then worked as an admitting clerk for Medical Center of Mesquite. After retirement she spent her afternoons working at Florence Black Elementary as a cafeteria monitor. Linda attended Lakepointe Church in Mesquite.
Linda cherished every moment spent with her family, especially sharing stories over a plate of her favorite Mexican food. She loved playing Bingo and going to the casino where she was always ready for a good time and a little bit of luck. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but will carry her spirit in their hearts forever.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother, Lois Metzler; stepfather, Clarence "Dutch" Metzler; grandmother, Edith Goddard and grandfather, Paul Goddard.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1 pm at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, 12649 Lake June Rd., Mesquite, TX 75180.
