Linda Jane Horton

Linda "Jane" Tidwell Horton passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, on November 6th 2025, after a long and courageous battle against cancer. She was born to the late TA "Top" and Ruth Scruggs Tidwell on June 5, 1942, in Booneville. She was a graduate of New Site High School, Class of 1960. Linda worked in various manufacturing companies before retiring in 2009.
Linda's life can best be encapsulated in two words: Family and Friends. In her 83 years of life, she experienced an abundance of each. She preserved through hardships as a single mother who often worked long hours to provide the best for her children. She supported and provided extended care to her grandchildren. She was a loyal friend and was loved by many. Linda enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and spending time with her family. She had a fond love for her watching hummingbirds and growing her plants.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her sons, Tim (Kim), Terry (Martha), Robie, Jeff and Shaun (Caitlin Moore) all of Booneville; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Johnson, and brother, Jackie Tidwell both of Southaven. She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Paige; and brother-in-law, Jay Johnson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Booneville Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Booneville Funeral Home. Bro. Robert McCoy will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Jakob Horton, Daniel Horton, Dillon Horton, Todrick Shorter, and Jamie Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Coker and Charles Scruggs. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home will be trusted in assisting Linda's family.
