Linda Anne (Groenewald) Inman, of Evansdale, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 73 years old, and her heart always seemed to radiate warmth and affection towards those around her.
Born on October 13, 1952, to Daniel and Ellen (Hankins) Groenewald in Waterloo, IA, Linda's journey began in Waterloo. Linda graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1970. As a child, she was shy, except to her sisters and close friends.
Linda’s life took a pivotal turn when God brought her to the love of her life, Chester Inman, while attending church. Linda and Chester exchanged vows on August 22, 1970, at Faith Assembly of God Church in Evansdale, embarking on a shared life that brought two amazingly fantastic children (their words) into the world, Daniel and Anne. Friends and family often remarked that their love and affection was like new even after 25 years of marriage. The family faced tragedy with Chester's passing on January 29, 1996, but Linda continued to draw strength from God, her family, and friends, continuing to create a loving and inviting home.
In addition to her role as a devoted homemaker in the early years of marriage, Linda helped to support the family through her work. She began her journey in the workforce at the Fish Market and Country Kitchen, but her real calling was at Taco John's, where she worked for 30 years, creating a family tradition that lasts until today, with at least 2 members still working there.
Linda was not only a dedicated worker but also developed into an independent woman. She had a remarkable talent for cooking, often preparing meals that delighted her entire family. Her green thumb allowed her to cultivate beautiful plants and flowers, along with growing fresh food in the garden with Chester. Linda enjoyed camping with family, bowling with Chester, and crafting with her sisters. She also enjoyed taking trips with friends and family, including occasional trips to Las Vegas with family and friends.
Perhaps Linda’s most cherished title was "Professional Grandma." Her love knew no bounds, and the time she spent with her family was a true testament to the depth of her devotion. Her legacy will live on through her memories, her laughter, and the lessons of love she imparted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents; one sister, Janet Richmond; and one son-in-law, Dave Kohls.
She is survived by her two children, Daniel Inman of Evansdale, and Anne Kohls of Waverly; four grandchildren, Lynda (Tyler) Wickwire of Shell Rock, Nina Wagner of Des Moines, Denny Kohls of Waverly, and Paul Exman of Des Moines; four great-grandchildren, Gracie, Alyce, Willow, and Jasmine; one sister, Teri (Earl) Brandt of Waterloo; one brother, John (Shirley) Lambertson of Iowa Falls; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her.
A visitation honoring Linda’s life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, located at 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo. A funeral service
will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Faith Assembly of God, 5112 Lafayette Rd, Elk Run Heights, IA.
Linda Anne Inman will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family. The world is a better place for having known her, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
