Linda Lou (Kriete) Greene, age 85, a cherished lady, born on September 2, 1939, in Seymour, Indiana, departed this world on February 26, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family at her daughter's residence. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and sweetness that will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.

For many years, Linda dedicated herself to the children of Seymour as a beloved member of the cafeteria staff at Brown Elementary School. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit introduced countless students to the joy of good food and kindness, serving not just lunches but creating fond memories that many carry forward from their childhood.

A faithful member of Seymour Christian Church for over 53 years, she shared her gift for teaching by guiding younger generations in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Her hands were often busy preparing meals for funeral dinners and church events, reinforcing her belief in the healing power of nourishment and community. A proud 1957 graduate of Seymour High School, Linda remained engaged with her roots, her unwavering spirit and strong personality becoming a beacon of warmth and positivity to all who crossed her path.

Memories of ice cream shared with her grandchildren are etched deeply in the family's hearts—whenever troubles arose, her simple question, "Do you want ice cream?" would bring comfort and a smile, a testament to her nurturing nature. Linda loved the magic of Christmas time; the season found its joy in her laughter and traditions, making every gathering a treasure for her family.

Her hobbies—cross stitching, puzzles, and cooking—were an extension of her love for family, with each homemade dish reflecting her care. The family will forever treasure her creations, especially her legendary homemade ketchup, dumplings, and peach cobbler, which were cherished delights across generations.

Linda is survived by her loving daughter, Traci Copley and her husband Bill, as well as her devoted son, Michael Greene, and his wife Debbie, alongside her son Kevin Greene, all residing in Seymour, Indiana. She is also remembered fondly by her brother Steve Kriete and his wife Teresa, her sisters Clara Winslow and Connie Gerth, along with four grandchildren—Becky Stover, Tim Walton, Katie Walton, and Ethan Greene—and eight great-grandchildren whose lives she enriched with her love.

While Linda has joined those who left before her, including her father, Carl Kriete Sr., her mother, Mildred Donnell Kriete, her beloved husband of 57 years, Harold "Pete" Greene and siblings Everett Kriete, Carl Kriete Jr., and Bonnie Cox, her spirit remains woven into the fabric of her family's lives. The laughter, the shared meals, and the comforting presence she embodied will forever illuminate the paths of those she loved.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana, welcoming all whose lives were touched by Linda to celebrate her extraordinary journey and profound impact on her family and community. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steven Bruce officiating. She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
