Linda Long Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNutt Funeral Home - Conroe on Dec. 11, 2024.
Linda Gail Stevens - Long, known affectionately as Gail to those who were graced by her presence, was a beacon of unwavering love and selflessness throughout her remarkable life. Born on November 4, 1955, in the heart of Corpus Christi, Texas, Gail's journey began as the cherished daughter of Sgt Charlie Walter Stevens of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Dorothy Beatrice Turner of Wichita Falls, Texas. Her luminous spirit continued to shine brightly until her peaceful passing from an aggressive brain tumor. On November 20, 2024.
Gail's early years were shaped by the loving community of Conroe, Texas, where she attended Conroe High School, graduating with the class of 1974. Her education laid a strong foundation for a distinguished career spanning five decades, during which she excelled as a banking professional and office manager. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her colleagues and the countless individuals she served with grace and efficiency.
Beyond her professional achievements, Gail's heart truly belonged to her family. She was the proud and devoted mother of two daughters, one from her marriage to Harley Houston Bowman of Conroe, Texas came, Kimberly Gail Bowman. From her marriage to Stephen Wayne Long of Bonham, Texas came Lacey DeMar Long, they were the center of her universe. Her love extended to her three adored grandchildren, Jaden James Dial, Mason Nathaniel Taylor, and Kylee Grace Long, who were her pride and joy. Gail's brothers, Glen Thomas Goodrum and Donald Lee Stevens(Carol Ann), along with one nephew, Ross Stevens and one niece, Shannon Goodrum, also held special places in her heart.
Gail's zest for life was contagious. She found solace and inspiration in the beauty of nature, from the calming waves of the beach to the delicate dance of butterflies and dragonflies. Celebrating holidays and birthdays was not just a tradition for Gail; it was an opportunity to create unforgettable moments and lasting memories with her loved ones. Her faith in God was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and triumphs with unwavering conviction.
Those who knew Gail would describe her with words that barely scratch the surface of her profound impact: loving, faith-filled, and selfless. Her love was a boundless ocean, enveloping everyone in its warm embrace. Her faith was a shining lighthouse, guiding others through their darkest moments. Her selflessness was a gentle breeze, lifting the spirits of all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Gail's legacy is one of unbridled passion for life and an unshakable belief in God and the goodness of humanity. She inspired others to rise above their circumstances, to find the silver lining in every cloud, and to cherish the smallest of joys. Her life was a testament to the power of a positive spirit, and her memory will continue to motivate and uplift all who remember her.
As we celebrate Gail's extraordinary life, we are reminded of the profound difference one person can make in the lives of so many. Gail's journey on this earth may have reached its sunset, but the light of her love will continue to dawn in the hearts of those she touched. Her indomitable spirit will forever encourage us to live with purpose, to love without reservation, and to leave this world a little better than we found it.
Linda Gail Long's story does not end here; it is carried forward in the laughter of her grandchildren, in the resilience of her daughters, in the fond memories of close family and friends, and in the countless lives she graced. Her life was a beautiful symphony of compassion, courage, and unwavering devotion-a symphony that will resonate for generations to come.
Let us honor Gail's memory by embracing the values she embodied and by striving to live a life as rich in love and service as hers. In this way, we keep the essence of Gail alive, a guiding star in the vast expanse of our lives, illuminating the path forward with hope, grace, and boundless love
