With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Matriarch, Linda Helen (Ostrander) Lopez, on Friday October 24, 2025.
Born on February 15, 1947 in Lansing, MI to Myron and Lunetta Ostrander. Linda was the eighth of eleven children, she is proceeded in death by Myron Jr., Donald, Janet, Nancy, Carol, Gloria, Frederick, Richard, and Ronald; survived by youngest sibling Julie.
Linda grew up on Lansing’s East Side, where she spent her youth ice skating, dancing, coordinating fashions from Knapp’s downtown and regulating the halls of her school.
In August of 1964, Linda married Maximo Lopez Jr., together they made a home on the South Side of Lansing, raising their beautiful children - Barbara, William, Robert, and Jason. The family would later go onto acquiring a lakefront property on Hogback Lake. It is here where Linda would cherish time with her family. She showed them how to enjoy the simple things in life such as laying in the sun, fresh farm produce and of course frying up Max’s catch of the day.
Linda was a strong courageous mother devoted to family. When her daughter needed help with her own children, she stepped in without hesitation, raising them as her own with Max by her side.
She worked over 20 years in retail at Kmart, she built lasting friendships and earned the admiration of her coworkers. Linda had a talent for filling a room with laughter, often while playing two bingo cards at once. Her love of music was contagious with favorites like tejano and country. You could rely on her to keep the rhythm without missing a beat. With her by your side, your problems were defeated with a simple conversation that gave you the confidence and courage to do so.
Linda is survived by her husband, Max Lopez Jr; Children, Barbara Gonzales, William Lopez, Robert Lopez, Jason Lopez, Samantha(Fransico) Lopez, Josette(James) Stokes, and Roxanne(Jordan) Wilson; Grandchildren Jordyn(Christopher), Rheanna, Sophia, Robert Jr, Sasha, and Mariano Lopez.
