Benson, NC: Mrs. Linda Lou Stewart Parker, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Rev. Kelvin Blackman, Mr. Randy Byrd, and Granddaughter, Chloé Sharpe will officiate. Burial will follow in Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson.
Mrs. Parker was born on June 28, 1941 in Johnston County, NC to the late Marvin Wilson and Reba Mae Byrd Stewart. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cindy Lou Parker; brother, Kenneth Wilson Stewart and his wife, Patricia; nephews, Terry Stewart and Michael Stewart. Mrs. Parker worked for Carolina Power and Light as a data processing specialist, a homemaker, and retired from Benson Elementary School with the Johnston County Public Schools. She was a life long member of Hodges Chapel P.F.W.B. Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Johnston County Homemakers Extension Association. She enjoyed directing weddings, working in her zinnia garden, and cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Parker’s greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren. Her children stated as King Charles, III, said about Queen Elizabeth, II, at her passing, “Throughout her life my beloved mother was an inspiration and example to me and all my family. We owe her the most heartfelt debt any family could owe to their mother for the love, affection, guidance, understanding and example.”
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Donnie Allen Parker; children, D. Brett Parker and partner, Andy Janoviczki of Benson, Troy Allan Parker and wife, Paula of Benson, Lori Parker Sharpe and husband, Matt of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Chloé Sharpe, Caleb Parker, Seth Parker, and Sadie Sharpe; special family friend, Carol Wilkins of Angier; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:45PM-2:45PM Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
