COHOES Linda M. Maurer, 76, of Ogden Mills passed away unexpectedly at her residence Friday, April 4, 2025.
Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Murray, Sr. and Lois Gagnon Murray. She had worked for many years as a seamstress at the Swanknit Co. in Cohoes and more recently as a bus monitor for the Birnie Bus Co.
A music lover, Linda enjoyed singing karaoke every Tuesday night at Dee Dee's Tavern in Latham and listening to the concerts at Canal Square. She also loved to go "camping" (with an RV of course), play bingo and take trips to Florida. While in Florida, she would never miss an opportunity to go to her favorite place, Disneyland.
Time spent with family was always Linda's greatest joy. She was the wife of the late John D. Collins who passed in 1992 and Richard Maurer who passed in 2012. She was the loving mother of Michele Paul (Ron) of Cohoes, John Collins III of Waterford, Jean Sachar (Ed) of South Carolina, William J. Collins, Sr. (Tina Marie) of Johnstown, John M. Collins (Stephanie), Jamie Collins (Jason) and Justin Collins (Taylor) all of Cohoes and the late Kevin Collins. She was the sister of Thomas Murray (Mary), Bruce Murray (Laurie), Maureen Deeb (David) and the late Alfred Murray Jr. (Bonnie), William Murray, Donna LaMere (Bill), Deborah Fitzgerald (Fitz), Tammy Skawinski (Edward) and Eugene Borden. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Linda's memory to the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org).
