1945 2025

Linda D. Melone, 80, of Rome, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Rome Health, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Rome, NY, on April 4, 1945, daughter of the late Vincent and Louise Pigliacelli DeAngelo. Linda was educated in Rome Schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy. On November 3, 1969, she married Robert Melone in Elkton, VA; a blessed union of nearly 56 years. She was most recently an associate at Walmart in Rome. Linda also worked for the former Rose Hospital in Rome, as well as Mark One Realty.

She was a former committee member on the City of Rome Grievance Board. Linda was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting Jervis Library. Linda loved to shop for Christmas and buy gifts for everyone else. She shopped throughout the whole year just for Christmas. Linda was a very caring, generous person, who loved to give to various charities, especially those involving women and children. She would also sponsor a Thanksgiving dinner for a family in the community each year. The one activity that Linda was most proud of was the time she spent with her beautiful granddaughters. They were her pride and joy and she loved babysitting them.

Surviving besides her husband, Bob, are two sons, Robert Melone, Jr. (Susan Uvanni) and Mark (Tracy) Melone; three grandchildren, Giulia, Sofia and Elisa Melone; her grand-dogs, Charlie and Hondo; sisters-in-law, Carol DeAngelo and Elaine Morgan; brothers-in-law, Gary Melone and Bill Thomas; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, all who were very dear to her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Vincent, and Louise; brothers, Vincent and Bernie DeAngelo; sister, Frances Militano; sisters-in-law, Rose Gulla and Virginia Thomas; brothers-in-law, Vincent Militano and Bill Morgan; and a niece, Shannon Thomas.
