Linda Louise Mixner

Linda Louise Mixner (07.08.1947 - 07.08.2024), born and raised in Alliance, OH, passed away peacefully after a sad and difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease. Linda was clever and fun. She endured and accomplished a lot in her lifetime. She worked hard and brought a bright energy to everyone she knew and everything she did. Preceding Linda in death were her sisters; Carol and Barbara, and her parents; Bud and Frances. Linda (Mom, MomMom, Aunt Linda, Linda Lou) is survived by her daughters Michele (Chris) and Meredith (Jeremy), and grandchildren Brighton, Anderson, and Raleigh.
Linda was an active member of the Virginia Beach tennis community for more than 40 years - often playing 4-5 times a week. Her biggest claim to fame was playing in the USTA Senior Nationals with her teammates and best friends in Surprise, AZ, in 1997.
She was a dental hygienist in her very young days and when the girls were older, she worked at Sullivan Andrews and Taylor, and then worked at Norfolk Academy beginning in 2001 until her retirement in 2017. As a Navy wife, Linda organized moving the family to more than 10 cities in 15 years one move across the entire country with a 6-week old baby.
Linda loved good music and good wine, and especially traveling with her tennis friends and her daughters. She was a great baker - she would make beautiful pies and cookies for days before Christmas, when she often hosted a house full of extended family.
Linda supported anything and everything that involved her grandchildren - sports, plays, open houses, and endless carpools. She often said that being a "MomMom" was her favorite part of life.
Visitors will be received by Linda's family from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, July 11 at Altmeyer Funeral Home (5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA).and a graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery (809 S Henry Street, Williamsburg, VA) at 10:00am on Friday, July 12.
