Linda Bertok Mlynek

Born August 31st, 1940, the only child of Julius and Olga Bertok, and died peacefully at home on January 27th, 2025 surrounded by family. Loving wife of Paul Mlynek for 57 years. Dear Mother of Laura (Mlynek) Gibbons, Paul Mlynek (wife Lisa), and Mark Mlynek (wife Susan). Beloved Grandmother of Mia Mlynek, Owen Mlynek, Natalie Gibbons, and Logan Gibbons. Dearest cousin to many. She was educated at Coy Elementary and Clay High School and graduated from Stautzenberger College and the University of Toledo. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at Riverside Hospital and happily retired from Optivue Eye Clinic after many years. Linda was a lifelong member of the Calvin United Church of Christ, where her grandfather was a founding member in the Birmingham ethnic neighborhood. She was a member of the choir and was involved in many of the church committees. As a granddaughter of Ellis Island Immigrants, Linda was very proud of her Hungarian ancestry.

She loved to travel all over the world with her husband visiting eleven countries in Europe, Ireland, South America, and the Canadian Rockies. Her favorite US destinations were San Francisco and Mackinaw Island. Despite much physical adversity living with MS for 40 years, Linda always managed a beautiful smile that lit up the room. She will be dearly missed by many.

Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvin United Church of Christ or Helping Hands of Saint Louis. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their support and care.
