Mrs. Linda Smith Newton, of Obion, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at her home. She was born July 14, 1958 in Tiptonville, TN to the late Arvin Smith and Martha Drummonds Tatum. She was a 1976 graduate of Lake County High School and worked for many years with the HIS Company and Heckethorn Manufacturing Co. where she worked in production, operations and quality control. She truly loved time spent with her family, whether it was a baseball game, a cruise or road-trip adventure, cooking large meals for family or providing numerous gifts to her kids and grandkids at Christmas. She was active in her church; North Lake Church, formerly the Keystone Church of God in Tiptonville.

Linda is survived by her husband, of 25 years, Michael Gene Newton, her son Tommy Hopper and wife, Jennifer, daughters Natalie Seals and husband, Jeremy and Amanda Hopper, a brother Alex "Snookie" Weaks and was greatly loved as "Maw" by her grandchildren Jackson Seals and wife, Avery, Katie Bratton and husband, Chase, Paul Hayden Seals, Livee Seals, James Wesley Mooring, Kiley Hopper, Ty Hopper and Nathan Scott and her great-grandchildren Baylor & Hampton Seals and Hendon Bratton. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Frank, Thomas and Cooper Tatum, Alvin Weaks and sisters Mary Tucker Scott and Mattie Scott.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at North Lake Church (former Keystone Church of God) in Tiptonville, TN conducted by Pastor Robert Davis. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely, TN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the church from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Michael Gene Newton, Tommy Hopper, Jackson Seals, Paul Hayden Seals, Wes Mooring and Jeremy Seals.
