Linda Payne Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 15, 2025.
Linda Gail Payne of Mont Belvieu, TX, passed away on October 6, 2025, just two days after her 60th birthday. She was surrounded by family who loved her.

Linda spent the greater part of her life in Lumberton, TX, with her parents Burtis "Pete" Payne and Thelma Janell Butler Payne and her brother Tommy Payne. She was the light of their lives. After her mother became ill, Linda moved into the Village Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton where she met the love of her life, Randy Purvis. After the death of her mother, Linda and Randy moved to Mont Belvieu Rehabilitation and Nursing Center to be closer to her relatives living in Mont Belvieu. Linda and Randy had three happy years together.

A graduate of Lumberton High School, Linda remained a supporter all of her life. She was a devoted Elvis Presley fan. She knew all things Elvis-every song, movie, and piece of trivia. She and her mother loved to travel, and she often talked of visiting Graceland. Linda loved crafts and often gifted others with her works of art including paintings, needlework, and croquet. Linda loved her family, including a long list of extended family. She knew every birthday of every cousin and never failed to call on their birthdays.

Linda is survived by her brother, Tommy Payne, her aunts, Marian Porter and Erma Watson, and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held in the home of her aunt Marian Porter of Mont Belvieu, TX, on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 2pm.
