Linda Jean Rhoton, age 65, entered her eternal home with the Lord she loved and served faithfully on October 2, 2025, at her home in Eastland, with her husband by her side. Linda was born on March 27, 1960, in Crane, TX, to Fred Malcome and Annabelle (Davis) Bassham. She married the love of her life, Craig Rhoton, on January 20, 1979, in Big Spring, TX, and they shared 47 wonderful years together.
Linda dedicated herself to the nursing profession as an RN for nearly 30 years after earning her degree in nursing. She served with compassion and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all those she cared for. A devoted member of Lake Leon Baptist Church in Eastland, Linda thrived in serving her community as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the handbell choir. She cherished shaping the lives of children, instilling in them the values of love and kindness.
A true nurturer and great gift-giver, Linda found immense joy in celebrating life's milestones and planning memorable family gatherings. Linda gifted her grandchildren with quilts that she hand made for them. She loved being a Nana. Her home was always open to family, where the warmth of delicious desserts and cherished traditions filled the air, especially during the holidays. Linda was a great prayer warrior, lifting up her children and grandchildren in prayer daily, and she possessed an extraordinary ability to see the best in everyone.
Linda was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her legacy will live on through her husband, Craig of Eastland; their three daughters, Melinda Hines and husband Cory of Brownwood, Breanne Randall of Mansfield, and Reagan Patel and husband Daniel of Eastland; and their nine grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Mackenzie Hines, Caleb Hines, Hezahcia Patel, Aisten Randall, Roman Randall, Daxton Patel, Balinda Patel, Samuel Randall, and Zeke Randall. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Christie and husband Ronny of Tyler; her father-in-law, David Rhoton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Annabelle Bassham; two sisters, Gwen Dukes and Bettye Williams; and her mother-in-law, Pat Rhoton.
In celebration of Linda's life, funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Lake Leon Baptist Church in Eastland, officiated by Dr. Cory Hines. Interment will follow the service at Staff Cemetery. Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Eastland.
