Linda Robinson Carpenter

Linda Robinson Carpenter, 75, of New Port Richey, Florida, went home to be with Jesus on August 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Born April 6, 1950, in Absecon, New Jersey, Linda was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle Robinson. She attended Taylor University and Ohio Northern University, where she met and married her college sweetheart, George Carpenter, on June 20, 1970. The two shared over 55 years of marriage marked by deep love, respect, and an unwavering commitment to faith and family.

Linda began her career as an elementary school teacher, but her greatest and most cherished role was being a mother. She dedicated herself fully to raising her children and was the heartbeat of their home. Whether as a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, PTA president, team mom, taxi driver, substitute teacher, event planner, or passenger van chauffeur, she poured herself into every role with enthusiasm and joy. She had an open-door policy and was “mom” to many beyond her own—always ready with food, laughter, and a place to stay.

Linda loved adventure and embraced every challenge with delight and courage. Whether remodeling the family farmhouse down to the studs with her own hands, raising and butchering chickens, wading into a lake with her walker, or planning girls’ trips, she never let inexperience, pride, or self-consciousness stand in her way. She also had a gift for turning every day moments into adventures.

She was a woman of unshakable joy and boundless generosity. Linda lived the way she felt called by Jesus—by loving without prejudice or favoritism and welcoming people from every walk of life. She was an extraordinary hostess, able to make a gathering of hundreds or a dinner for four feel equally special. Her home was a refuge, her table always full, and her heart always open.

Linda met life’s challenges with courage and grace. She faced decades of health and mobility struggles as well as the profound grief of losing her sons Joshua (24 years) and Jonathan (2 weeks) Carpenter, her son-in-law Derek Taatjes, and her grandson Dylan Taatjes. Yet through every hardship, she smiled, encouraged others, and clung to her faith.

Her faith was not just spoken—it was lived. Linda was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Berlin, Ohio, and later First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, where she joyfully served in children’s ministry, youth group, Bible studies, and other ministries such as Stonecroft and Dorcas Sisters for many years. She taught by example that the most important thing in life is to love God and love others well.

Linda lived out her life verse, 1 Timothy 5:10: 

“She is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.”

Her legacy is one of steadfast faith, servant leadership, and unconditional love. She lived for Christ by loving others, giving generously, forgiving easily, working hard, and finding joy in all circumstances. An ambassador of love and a joyful encourager, she made everyone she met feel seen and valued. Her smile, kindness, and example will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her husband, George Carpenter; her daughter, Charity (Carpenter Taatjes) Bennett, and son-in-law, George Bennett; grandchildren William Bennett, Ava Bennett, Ella Taatjes, Jack Bennett, and Johanna Taatjes; her brother, Carl (Terri) Robinson; and her sisters-in-law Victoria (Kelly) Curren and Lucinda Hannahs. She is reunited in heaven with her parents; her sons Joshua and Jonathan; her son-in-law Derek Taatjes; and her grandson Dylan Taatjes.

Services for her Florida community will be held on Monday, 8/25 at 1 pm at First Baptist Church of New Port Richey. A celebration of life service will be held to remember Linda in Ohio on Sunday, 9/14 at 3 pm at First Baptist of Berlin, 4876 State Route 39 Berlin, OH 44610. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow immediately.
