With love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Linda Ann Shannon, age 74, on December 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. To know her was to know a fiercely independent woman full of grit, sass, and incredible resilience.
Mom was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 1, 1951, then raised in South Louisiana by a proud Cajun family. She carried her heritage deeply and joyfully throughout her life and expressed it most beautifully in the kitchen, where she worked on perfecting family recipes with the heart of a true Cajun cook. Whether stirring a pot of gumbo or making her famous rice dressing, food was comfort, culture and connection and it brought her great joy to keep traditions alive by cooking for her family and enjoying a house full of love and laughter.
Mom was an avid collector of anything vintage and had an extraordinary gift for creating unique furniture by seeing the potential in ordinary or discarded objects. As a devoted thrifter and garage sale explorer, she delighted in uncovering hidden treasures and would often invite family and friends to "go shopping" in her mother lode.
Mom also enjoyed the simple thrill of a good scratch off ticket, never losing her hopeful spark or sense of fun as she scratched away. But above all, her greatest joy came from her family whether bickering with her sisters or roll calling the grandchildren, they were her pride, her heart, and her greatest legacy. She leaves behind lessons in independence, tenacity and love that will endure through everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
Mom was preceded in death by her father, Ray Lormand, her mother, Frances Leblanc, and a beloved brother, Vincent Lormand. She will be deeply missed by two children, her son, Shawn Youngblood and his wife Stephanie, her daughter Angela Hebert and her husband Kevin; Five cherished grandchildren; Chelsea (Nick) Richardson, Trevor (Elyse) Hebert, Griffin (JamieLee) Hebert, Brooks Youngblood and Olivia Youngblood, Three precious Great-grandchildren; Bella, Hunter and Lily Richardson, Three sisters; Tammy (Gerard) Adams, Vicki Plaisted, Michelle (Josh) LeBlanc, Sister in law; Becki (Pat) Shannon, her Godchild; Tiffany Crawford, Nieces; Kristen (Scott) Thibodaux, Reagan (Paula) Bowers, Celeste Bowers, Kasey Shannon, Nephews; Deoniel Abanes, Christopher Crawford, Nick (Chelsey) Crawford, Brody (Daniall) Adams, Casey Adams, Devon Adams, Newton Pittman, Jansen Lormand, Holt Shannon and numerous great nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and Yayas.
