GARDINER Linda Lee Hathaway Spearin, 85, of Gardiner, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Gardiner, Maine on April 6, 1937, and was the daughter of Arnold and Gwendolyn (Grimes) Bean. She grew up and went to school in Hollowell, Maine, but moved to Winthrop, Maine in 1953 where she graduated from Winthrop High School in 1955. Growing up, she enjoyed reading and movies, and she was a cheerleader in high school. She also loved to dance, especially at her future husband, Rod Spearin s college fraternity parties.
Linda had various jobs throughout her life, but took the most pride in being a homemaker, wife, and mother. She loved to garden, sew, knit, and crochet, and she also enjoyed coaching cheerleaders.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved aunt Marjorie and Uncle Bob Guay, sister and brother-in-laws, Louise and Merle Peacock and Richard and Susan Spearin, several cousins, and her son-in-law, Craig Larsen.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Rod Spearin, her children, Terri Larsen, Mark Spearin, and Tia Spearin Hetu, her grandchildren Lindsey Larsen Kelsey and her husband Drew, Taylor Larsen and his wife Amanda, Cody Hetu, and Cory Hetu. She also loved her 5 active great-grandsons, Max, Zane, Colten, Case, and Brody.
To fulfill Linda s wishes, there will be no services.
Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, www.staplesfuneralhome.com
