Bette S. Seymour

RANDOLPH, ME Bette L. Skonberg Seymour, 87, of Randolph, Maine died on November 14, 2025, after a brief illness.

Bette was born in Brookline, MA on March 27, 1938, to George W. and Maude (Rogers) Skonberg. Bette was a homemaker, church secretary at Randolph United Methodist Church, and owner of the Knittery, a home-based business. Bette spent her early years raising five children, making needed clothes and teaching dance lessons in their basement. For over 60 years, Bette was busy sewing, knitting, quilting, attending craft fairs and sharing her skills with others. Bette was also a proud member of the local chapter of Red Hatters and was a founding member of the Clothes Closet in Gardiner. In 2009, Bette was honored to be selected as Maine Mother of the Year.

Bette adored her family and celebrated the birth of every child -- eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way, and one great-great-grandchild. Bette continued to make or purchase gifts for every family member's birthday until her illness. From a large family, Bette had many nieces and nephews including special nephew, Peter Seymour, who supported her by visiting regularly and helping her get around town. Special niece Brenda (Nixon) Whitney also visited and took Bette to weekly bingo. Special granddaughter Erika Shaw was a regular visitor and made sure Bette had all the things she needed.

Bette was pre-deceased by her daughter, Pamela Sue (Seymour) Lowry and sister Patty Skonberg Blethen. Bette leaves behind her husband Alfred A. (Sicky) Seymour, Jr., daughters Patty Seymour Heal and husband Robert (Bob) of Palm Harbor, FL, Peggy Seymour Kimball and husband Shawn of Levant, ME, Penny Seymour Shaw and husband Percy (Rick) of Manchester, ME, and son Alfred A. (Teddy) Seymour III and wife Leighann (Dow) Seymour of Clearwater, FL.

A visitation and memorial service on Sunday December 28, 2025, at Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner beginning at 1:00 pm. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm. A graveside burial service will take place this spring at Maple Grove Annex in Randolph, ME. Relatives and friends will be notified. Arrangements and guidance are under the direction of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, ME.
