It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Davis Vail-Glidden, a beloved sister, aunt, and cherished educator, who left us on June 16, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on November 4, 1945, in Gilmer, Texas, to parents J.T Davis and Rosa Lee Fox-Davis, Linda spent her life devoted to the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of her community and students. Linda attended East Texas Baptist University and completed a bachelor’s degree in education as well as receiving a Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University.
She dedicated her career to teaching at New Diana ISD, Hughes Springs ISD, and retiring from Ore City ISD working in the area of special education. She believed all children had potential and inspired students with her passion for education Linda's impact on her students and colleagues will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Linda's love for animals was evident in her many cats, dogs, goats, and chickens she cared for. She never met an animal she did not love.
Linda is survived by her loving sister Dottie Gipson, as well as her nieces and nephews: Lesa Tilton, Brad Fenton, Gary Gipson, Sheri Gipson and Amy Hodson as well as a host of great and great great nieces and nephews. Each have cherished memories of her.
In honoring her memory, a public viewing will take place at Croley Funeral Home in Diana, TX. on June 23, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at Ore City Cemetery, Ore City Tx. on June 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM, where she will be laid to rest.
Linda’s legacy will continue to inspire those who were touched by her spirit. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten
Linda was preceded in death by her parents J.T and Rosa Lee Davis, husband Steve Vail, and sisters Golda Fenton, and Shirley Coffey.
