It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Sue (Parcell) VanderBeek, age 77, of Portage, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was born July 25, 1947, in Elkhart, Indiana, to the late Robert and Frances (Guipe) Parcell. Linda graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School with the class of 1965. She went on to study at Western Michigan University and worked over 20 years as an office manager for Edward Jones.
While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Linda truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Her generosity knew no bounds. Linda was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family. Along with her family she was a devout member of Calvary Chapel of Kalamazoo Valley. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered. Linda was passionate about tending to her yard and her flower gardens. She would sit on her porch and admire her hard work and enjoy the beauty around her. She lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Although Linda is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her four children, Christina Poole-Dion and husband Paul, Steven Christianson and wife Jenni, Rob Christianson and companion Anna, and Sarah Fox; grandchildren, Joshua Poole, Lindsey Poole, Hannah Wegmiller, Ashlee Butler, Brooke Christianson, Emily Coughlin, Jenna Christianson, Haylin Hershberger-Christianson, Kaydan Fox, Corrina Fox and Johnathan Fox; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Coughlin, Elliott and Remi Wegmiller.
Per Linda's wishes cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date and details will be announced as soon as they become available.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their help and care which allowed Linda to remain at home throughout her illness and passing.
