Linda Ann Wheeler, born on September 25, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, peacefully departed this life on February 17, 2026, in Alvarado, Texas. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose lifelong commitment to nurturing children was evident in her exceptional career as the Director of Childcare for the Church of Living Word.
Linda graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1963, and from that point onward, she dedicated herself to caring for children. Her influence extended far beyond her immediate family, impacting the lives of countless children and families throughout her career.
Linda was a loving, gentle soul that loved the Lord, often sharing the Word of the Lord with her family and friends. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, going to their activities and sports games and supporting them however she could along with their Pappa Wayne. They both LOVED to pack up all the kids, (then later added grandkids, great grandkids), all the dogs, to camp many weekends for lots of fishing and outdoor fun. Enjoying cooking over the fire (her fried potatoes and wienies; his SPAM he forced on his children), going wet rain/shine/cold, usually in a tent. We all survived and ended up learning a lot and now our children make us take them fishing and camping, but 99% of the time we LOVE IT too!
Linda was very quick witted and funny and kept you laughing. She would always stick out her tongue when you tried to take her photo, just to keep messing up your pictures! One of her most outstanding qualities was how much she loved and wanted to take good care of everyone she knew, praying for them, caring for, feeding and loving them. She was a one of a kind precious, strong Christian wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt, friend, cousin, ect. to many. The best baker of chocolate chip cookies (not to mention her awesome homemade gravy and potato salad too)!!
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne Wheeler, and their five children: Laurie and Fred Bond, Kim Shed, Tonya and Billy Shed, Daren and Nicole Bessinger, and Danny and Christie Wheeler. Her legacy continues through her eleven cherished grandchildren: Sarah, Hayden, Kalee, Jessica, Lyndsey, Blake, Angela, Sophia, Derek and Catey, Darrell and Kayla, Doug and Esmeralda, as well as thirteen adoring great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters and their husbands, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, most of whom reside in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Delmas and Laura Dodd, Calvin and Mildred Wheeler, and her brothers Cleve, Dwaine, Alvin, Larry, and Orville. She also mourned the loss of precious children, including her granddaughter Felicia and her infant daughter, Dee Ann Marie.
Goodbye for now, Mom, we all love love LOVE you, miss you terribly, but will be grateful that you are now at peace with our Lord.
