Linda Lou Wilson, 74 of Beaverton and formerly of Union City, Michigan, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at her home. She was born August 12, 1950 in Coldwater, Michigan, daughter of the late Roy and Anna (Liszlenko) Mench. Growing up in farm country, Linda enjoyed playing in the fields and river behind her childhood home. She graduated from Union City High School, class of 1968. Linda was a talented airbrush artist who painted many characters for amusement games sold across the world for Hampton Company. She also provided home health care support for those with need in the Coldwater community. Linda was a tremendous cook whose recipes have been sought after by many family members. Growing up near water, she loved to fish and swim. Swimming was her favorite pastime to do with all of her great grandchildren. Linda stayed active through the activities of golf and bowling. She excelled at bowling and participated in numerous state and national tournaments across the country over 40 plus years. Linda was very dedicated to the sport and was proud to help coach the youth league at Northern Lanes. Over the past five years, she was fortunate enough to teach her great grandchildren to bowl and share her passion for the sport. Linda held many roles in others' lives, but her favorite was Granny.
Linda was proud to be the mother of daughter, Shelly (Bill) Porter; Granny to her grandchildren, Chelsea (Trevor) Merryman, Haeley (Ben) Lightner, and Lake (Erin Long) Reed; Grammy Linda to her beloved great grandchildren, Easton, Everly, Ensley, Emorie, Arlo, and Maisy; and sister to Mary Fullenwider. She was met in death by her baby daughter, Melinda Petrie; parents, Roy and Anna Mench; her beloved brother-in-law, Peter Fullenwider; and two dear friends, Leroy Stevens and Clara Edwards.
In accordance with Linda's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025 at First Congregational Church, 410 North Broadway Street, Union City, MI. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Linda's family through the care of her daughter Michelle Porter. All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
