CASTORLAND – Linda A. Zehr, 73, of VanAmber Road, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Zechariah and Heather Zehr, Lowville, where she was under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice. Linda had been in failing health for the past year.
The funeral will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Croghan Mennonite Church with Pastor Todd Waugh, Nephew, officiating. Burial will follow in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery. An informal time with Linda's family will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service, at the church.
Linda was born on May 27, 1950 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of the late Robert and Ardeth Larkins VanNest. She attended Lowville Academy and Central School, graduating in 1969. Linda worked for Lewis County Head Start for many years. On June 15, 1974 she married Howard R. Zehr at Lowville Baptist Church. She raised her family and enjoyed being a homemaker. Linda especially enjoyed taking long rides with her husband and attending her children's and grandchildren's school and extracurricular activities.
She was a member of Living Hope Ministries, Watson.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Howard R. Zehr Sr.; four children, Howard Zehr Jr. of Sarasota, FL, Zechariah (Heather) Zehr of Lowville, Darrick (Sara) Zehr of Watertown and Zeline (Lukas) Farney of Lowville; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Arlene (Edward) Yancey of Lowville, Cathy (Kenneth) Hosmer of Lowville, Virginia (Karl) Roggie of Carthage, and Roda (Burnell) Lyndaker of Lowville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by a sister, Mary Ann VanNest who passed shortly after birth.
