Linnie Mae Cotton, age 98 received her wings on October 8, 2025, at Northview Health and Living Facility after a brief illness. She was born April 1, 1927, in Meridian, Mississippi to the late John Andrew Cullum and Ivory Lee McDade.
She worked at the Banner Store as an Elevator Operator. She also transported employees to and from work for many years until she decided to become a full-time homemaker.
Some of her hobbies were canning anything she could get her hands on, gardening, sewing and traveling.
She was affectionately known as "mom" to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Victoria Hudson of Phoenix, Arizona, 4 grandchildren, David Rush of Fairbanks, Alaska; Valeria Rush of Anderson, Indiana; Henry Rush of Florida and Joe Thadeus Morgan of Phoenix, Arizona,16 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren. Sisters, Lucy Ann Rush, Queenie Bohannon, Emma Edwards and brother Obie McDade. Special niece Minnie Johnson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Johnnie Clay Cotton, daughter Gloria Rush. Sisters, Lizzie Scott, Mamie McDade, Earline Drummond, Lillie Jean Green, Lou Ella Moton and Willie Mae White. Brothers Henry Lee Brown, John Rush, Henry Cullum, Herbert McDade, Jr. and granddaughter Demetia Kay Morgan.
