In Loving Memory of Linola Valerie Ditmars Totel
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Linola Valerie Totel, who peacefully entered the arms of her Lord on March 13th, 2025. Born on May 21st, 1939 in Harvey, IL, she was 85 years old.
A pillar of love and kindness, Nonie was known for her boundless warmth, her love of socializing, and her unwavering faith in Christ. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her selfless love, always putting others first and sharing the goodness of God with anyone she encountered. Her deep, abiding faith was a constant source of comfort and strength to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
An avid baker, Nonie was famous for the sweet treats that filled her kitchen and brought family and friends together. Whether it was cookies, deviled eggs, or her signature cakes, she poured her heart into every recipe, leaving behind a legacy of delicious memories and the joy of gathering around her table.
Above all, Nonie adored her grandchildren, and she found immense joy in watching them grow, sharing stories, and imparting life lessons. Her love for them was unconditional, and she took pride in being a constant source of wisdom and encouragement in their lives. The lessons she taught them about love, faith, and family will continue to guide them for years to come.
Nonie is preceded in death by her father Lionel Swedler, mother Marion Swedler née Baldwin, and sisters Cheryl Lynn Swedler, Margo Aldridge, and Heather Koenig. She leaves behind her loving daughter Cindy Pavelchik and son Mark Ditmars, her brothers John (Bonnie) Swedler, Eugene (Debbie) Swedler, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and a host of cherished friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, 2:00 pm at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 18620 Governors Hwy., Flossmoor, IL. We are comforted in knowing that Nonie is now at peace, embraced by the love of Christ, and that her memory will continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come.
