Lisa loved Jesus and didn't hesitate to share him with everyone whether she was checking out at the grocery store, walking along Lake Michigan, working out at the YMCA or chatting with someone online that she didn't even know. She hung scriptures in her car and in her apartment. She even placed scriptures on her apartment front door so whoever came to visit could read them while waiting for her to answer the door. Lisa was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 12, 1964. Her early childhood years were like most youngsters. She loved music and at an early age, she sang in the Children's Choir at Covenant Baptist Church. Later she joined the junior high and then high school band and played the flute and piccolo. After high school, she attended the University of Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Communications. From there, she became a Licensed Social Worker and then a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. A Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois Chicago followed. Her specialty was Domestic Violence. In the early days of her career, she worked in shelters provided for women and children. Once again, she had scriptures in her office, where she did one-on-one counseling, and in her car when she took clients to court or to the doctors. She often put tracts around the facility, hoping to reach someone for Jesus. Because she was exposed to so much violence and heartache, daily exercise and time with Jesus were a "Must." Her last position was with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services providing clinical expertise and research into family violence. Lisa loved flowers and brought them home from the store on a regular basis. She loved cats and cared for five (5) of them during her lifetime. Tiki was her favorite and a wonderful friend for someone who lived alone. Lisa loved singing and would burst into songs during telephone conversations. Many of these songs came from her participation in the Chicago Tabernacle Choir. The church and the choir were such a blessing to her. Lisa was full of life. Her laugh was contagious. Her love for Jesus was obvious. She will be greatly missed and is survived by her parents, Alfred and Judith Capparelli, her brother and his wife, Stephen and Yang Fen Capparelli, two nieces, Sarah and Catherine, and four nephews, Matthew, Jonathan, Michael and Samuel. Her sister, Sherry Capparelli preceded her in death. After the celebration of Lisa's life, her tribute video will be posted on this tribute website. I worked with Lisa at Macy’s Old Orchard. Lisa was a free spirit and a truly loving person. All of us at Macy’s were so sad to learn she had passed away. She had a long struggle with cancer and was so brave through the entire challenge. I spoke to her four days before her death and she told me she had Covid but was starting to feel better. I was devastated when I heard she had passed. My sweet Lisa I will truly miss you my friend. May you Rest In Peace.

Lisa and I were neighbors. I lived above her and she was the first friend I made in this building. We’d check in with one another and watch each other’s pets or even just sit out in the hallway to chat. I’ll miss her dearly and would like to send my condolences to all her friends and family.

May she rest peacefully.

I know Lisa from always being over to her Sisters house here in Chicago. She always has a vibrant personality and loved God and always shoed it to all. She loved her niece, Catheryn, and her Nephew Sam like they were hers. While I did not talk to her on a daily basis I will miss her personality but I know she is now serving has a angel of god and is rejoicing in heaven.

I worked with Lisa at DCFS on clinical consults. Lisa always gave the best advice and didn’t hesitate to seek out additional help. She told me how much she loved her cat and bike riding. She was always friendly and wonderful to work with. Please accept my deepest condolences to her family.

Lisa was such a light to everyone around her. I was in choir with her at Chicago Tabernacle. We instantly bonded over our shared Italian ancestry and love for cats & music. Above all, though, we both loved Jesus with all our hearts. We had so many encouraging discussions about Him. I will miss her vibrant laughter and joy.

I've known Lisa for 15 years, we were in the choir together at Chicago Tabernacle. She was always full of joy, always ready to share a recent testimony of Gods faithfulness in her life, and loved to sing praises to God. The Lord loved her so much It seems he just scooped her straight up from here to heaven. My sincere condolences to her family. I know she is singing new praises and enjoying his wonderful presence. Our loss is heavens gain. May we keep our eyes on Jesus just as our sister and friend modeled and lived so well.

Lisa was my massage Client for almost 3 years. She was the sweetest lady Ive ever met. She would always light up a room and we loved to share our cat stories. Little stinkers she would jokingly call them. Our sessions were so much fun and full of laughter. She loved her Family, Kitties & Church more than anything. Such a strong woman and Ill miss her dearly. She was gone too soon. My condolences to her family.
