BURLEY – Lisa Ann Forthun, 55, of Burley, Idaho, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on June 22, 2025. Born January 30, 1970, in Fargo, North Dakota. Lisa was the beloved daughter of Beverly Forthun of Burley, and the late Lloyd Forthun. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Forthun of Burley; her sister, Glenna Scheuerer of North Pole, Alaska; her brothers, Bob Forthun of Burley and Larry Forthun of Gainesville, Florida; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Among Lisa's greatest gifts was her deep and abiding love for the Lord, a faith that permeated every aspect of her life. She was a steadfast member of the First Baptist Church in Burley, where her devotion to God shone brightly. Lisa's faith was the guiding force that brought her peace, comfort, and joy.
Lisa's life overflowed with a profound love for dogs, a passion that stood as one of her defining qualities. Her dogs, particularly her adored chocolate Labradors, were not just pets-they were her children, companions, and a central part of her heart. Lisa loved nothing more than spending time outdoors, going on long walks with her dogs, exploring Idaho's beauty alongside them, and lavishing them with affection. She was a familiar presence in her neighborhood, often seen walking her dogs or stopping to greet other dogs she encountered with gentle enthusiasm and boundless kindness. Lisa's empathy and ability to connect with animals inspired those around her, reminding everyone of the simple joys found in unconditional love and friendship.
Her devotion to her family, and especially to her beloved mother and father, Beverly and Lloyd, was just as profound. Following Lloyd's passing, Lisa and Beverly shared an exceptionally close bond. Rarely did a day pass without Lisa dropping by her mother's home-walking their dogs together, sharing meals, swapping stories about their day, and finding comfort in each other's company. Their deep connection was a source of strength and joy for both, a testament to Lisa's unwavering loyalty as a daughter.
Lisa attended the College of Southern Idaho, earning an associate degree in business. Lisa worked for several years at Walmart in Burley, where she formed lasting bonds with coworkers who quickly became like family to her. Her genuine warmth, work ethic, and kind heart will be fondly remembered by everyone who worked alongside her.
A lover of dance from an early age, Lisa filled her life with movement-first learning tap, ballet, and jazz as a child, and later carrying that love to dance into adulthood. Whether walking, caring for her pets, or enjoying quiet moments with family, Lisa lived each day with a quiet strength.
Lisa's absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, coworkers, and by every wagging tail and loving pet who was fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of compassion, devotion, and love-for both animals and her family-will live on in the hearts of all she touched.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at First Baptist Church, located at 2262 Hiland Ave., in Burley, with Pastor Corey Zanotti officiating.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and Tuesday, July 1, one hour prior to the service at the church.
If you wish to send flowers, they may be delivered to Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, ID 83318. Yellow roses were her favorite.
