Lisa Harrup Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - Guisinger Chapel on Nov. 22, 2024.
Lisa Jane Harrup, born to Thomas and Barbara Dudeck on March 27, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on November 4, 2024 in Marietta, Georgia. A sweet daughter, loyal sister, and loving friend, Lisa will always be remembered for her loving, calm, and benevolent spirit.
Lisa grew up in South Bend, Indiana, where she attended Community Baptist Church and School and participated in softball, cheerleading, choir, and as a flutist in the band. While in high school, Lisa worked part time as a waitress, beginning what would be a lifelong pursuit of service to others.
After graduation, she attended Indiana University at South Bend for one year before relocating to the greater Atlanta, Georgia area and pursuing a career as a hairstylist. She would work in this capacity for five years, first being trained in cosmetology school, then honing her craft at several local establishments, and eventually operating her own small business out of her home for several years.
And it was as a hairstylist where Lisa's personality radiated. Young or old, man or woman, all felt greatly cared for in her chair and welcome in her company to ask their questions and share their stories. Lisa always provided a safe place for honest, transparent conversations, free of judgment or shame.
While in Georgia, Lisa met and eventually married David Harrup in 2001, and in 2002 they welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Alexis (Lexie). Together, the family of three – along with a delightful array of canines and felines – lived, loved, and leaned into each other at their beautiful home in Marietta.
In 2007, Lisa came out of retirement from cosmetology and accepted a job as Cafeteria Worker at Sope Creek Elementary, expressing again her God-given proficiency of caring for others. Eventually, her hard work, professionalism, and caring nature guided her into a managerial role – where she cared for her students through the thoughtful and intentional training of her team.
Lisa leaves behind her husband David Harrup and their daughter Alexis Harrup; her father Thomas Dudeck and her mother Barbara Dudeck; her siblings, Michael Dudeck, Kristi Richard, Tom Dudeck, Tori Dudeck, Mark Hill, Linda Gillis, and Joe Dudeck; her sisters-in-law Jenni Hill, Lindsay Dudeck, and Debra Dudeck; her brother-in-law Tom Richard; her sister-in-law Vicki Harrup Ireland; her 16 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind countless coworkers, friends, and students, who she treated as family members.
Lisa (Dudeck) Harrrup will be forever loved and never forgotten. She deeply imprinted her kindness, goodness, and gentleness onto the hearts of all those she met, such that her beautiful spirit will reverberate out for future generations to experience.
Rest in peace, dear wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. There are no more worries and no more pains for you to carry. There is only the fully encompassing presence of peace that passes all understanding.
A Celebration of Life service for Lisa will be held at 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Trinity Church, 61770 Miami Rd, South Bend, IN 46614.
