Lisa Carlene Newberry Leigh, born on July 25, 1956, in Lufkin, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Lisa had a passion for cooking and enjoyed watching cooking shows. She also loved plastic canvas needlepoint and spending time with her family.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Barbara Newberry, and her sister, Sherry Gibson. She is survived by her three children: Tracy Lindsey of Baxter, Tennessee; LaWanda Jones of Gainesboro, Tennessee; and Christopher Newberry of Gainesboro, Tennessee. Lisa is also survived by two brothers, Robert Newberry of Conroe, Texas, and Don Newberry of New Caney, Texas, and one sister, Debby Miller of Eden, Texas.
Lisa was also survived by three granddaughters: Samantha Garcia of Spring, Texas; Brittney Chatham of Cookeville, Tennessee; and Zoey Harmon of Livingston, Tennessee. She was a proud great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. Lisa was also loved and cherished by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is planned for a later date. The light of our hearts will be greatly missed.
