Obituary For Lisa A. Lydon
Lisa Anne Lydon
(July 11, 1964 – August 28, 2025)
Mrs. Lisa Anne (Sharkey) Lydon, 61, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2025. She was
surrounded by her loving family and will be sorely missed. Her family takes solace in knowing that Lisa is in paradise and her spirit is still with us.
Lisa was born on July 11, 1964, in Winchester, Massachusetts, to the late Robert and Maureen
(Martin) Sharkey. Her childhood was filled with love, including that of her sister Colleen and two lifelong friends Janet Drinan and Joanne MacNeil. With the Sharkey family frequently spending Summers traveling in support of Bob's carpentry business, Lisa not only grew up in Rockland, but all around New England. This experience instilled a sense of wonder and curiosity in Lisa which she would go on to foster for the rest of her life.
Lisa graduated from Rockland High School in 1982, and even though she didn't realize it yet, it would be there that she would first meet her best friend and the love of her life, Michael. Love would have to wait however, as for Lisa, there was just too much to be done first. Her service as a paramedic in the Army National Guard brought her from Camp Edwards, to Fort Dix, to the mountains of Vermont, cementing the importance of service in her life. This devotion to service and caring for others would lead Lisa to Brockton Hospital Nursing School, where she achieved her dream of becoming an RN.
Having accomplished so much already, the last piece of her soul fit into place when she fell in love with Michael. The two were married on September 17, 1988 and shared a life of love, companionship, and lasting devotion for almost 37 years. Throughout their marriage, Michael and Lisa would raise three children, Bobby, Erica, and Andrew, whom Lisa loved immensely. Lisa, never shying away from growth and hard work, returned to school, receiving her master's
degree in nursing from Northeastern University. These achievements led Lisa to a lifelong career in nursing, caring for patients, supervising care, and teaching at Quincy College.
As a two-time cancer survivor, Lisa embodied an unquestionable grit and strength. She was the first to show up at any hint of adversity, and manifested a commanding presence, taking charge of any situation and seeing it through. She provided unwavering support for her family including during illness, becoming a pillar of strength for her daughter Erica during her own battle with cancer.
Lisa treasured her grandchildren, who knew her as "Nana," and played an outsized role in their lives. From playground trips, to Summer days out by the pool, to vacations at Great Wolfe Lodge, nothing was quite as precious to Lisa as time spent with her grandchildren.
Her spirit will continue to endure through the family she leaves behind. Her loving husband Michael, and their children, Bobby, and his Wife Erin, Erica, and Andrew. She is survived by her two grandchildren, Natalie and Elliott, whom she cherished immensely. Lisa also leaves behind her sister Colleen Marble (Tom), and nieces and nephews Melissa (Matt), Kristyn (Dan), Anne Marie (Nate), and Tommy.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 4, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Magoun Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home the following morning at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
