Obituary of Lisa Michelle Melnyk
Lisa Michelle Melnyk, 54 of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Lisa was born in Waltham, the daughter of Rose DeLuca of Burlington and the late Michael A. Melnyk. She was educated in the Belmont school system and graduated from Minuteman Regional High School. From a young age, she displayed a fierce independence and a bright curious mind. Though she struggled with her mental health, Lisa never allowed those challenges to define or limit her. Instead, she faced life with unmatched strength, humor and heart.
Her greatest joy, and her truest purpose, was being a mother to her son, Joel. Lisa's love for Joel was boundless and unwavering. She poured her energy, creativity and compassion into caring for him the best she could. Her devotion to him was evident in everything she did.
Lisa's life was not easy, but she lived it with honesty and bravery.
She is survived by her loving mother, Rose DeLuca of Burlington, her beloved son Joel T. Serrano of Billerica, adoring brother, Michael Melnyk and his wife Holly of San Diego, CA, her cousins, Barbara Dempsy and her husband Bob, Angela DeLuca-Joyce, Maria Rappold and Phyllis Gill as well as many other cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Memorial Service on Thursday June 19 at 12:30pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. Visitation will precede the memorial service from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
Arrangements are by the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington Ma 01803, www..
