Lisa Marie Updike, age 60, of Paola Kansas, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at Olathe Medical Center. She is survived by her two children, Garrett Mitchell and Madison Updike, who are her entire world.
Lisa was born in Kansas City; MO to Charles Smith and Marilyn Smith (Zinn). Lisa grew up and graduated high school in Paola, Kansas. Lisa graduated from cosmetology school and was a cosmetologist for several years before being head manager and director at Smith Appliances. Garrett and Madison are Lisa's greatest accomplishments and loved them with her entire heart. A mother's love is always with her children. Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her love, her caring and wisdom live on a legacy of deep love that will always be with her children.
Lisa is also survived by her Mother Marilyn, her brother Danny, and many other extended family members. She was a very loving kind person; in fact, she loves nature and the animal kingdom. She has a gigantic, beautiful heart for dogs. If it was her choice, she would rescue all the dogs and take care of them with unconditional love and care. She would help any animal in her path.
She was a loving dog admirer, mother, daughter, and sister. She would do anything for them, and she did. She worked hard all her life for her family and the ones she loved. Lisa was a friend to all and always had a seat for you at the dinner table, what an amazing chef she was. She was amazing in so many ways that the list would be too long to write. She will be dearly missed and it will never be the same again without her for many of us.
Peaceful be thy rest, dear mother; Tis sweet to breathe your name; in life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. When days are dark and friends are few, dear mother how we long for you. A thousand tears won't bring you back – I know because I've cried. Nether will a thousand words – I know because I've tried. Each happiness of yesterday is a memory for today – and I will always miss you more than words can ever say. We love you mom, Garrett and Madison.
