Lloyd D. Benner went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025. Lloyd was born on July 9th, 1937, in Prairie Farm, WI to the late Clebourn and Iola (Grimm) Benner. He married Lorraine Schiefelbein on June 6, 1959, and together they had four children, Doug, Brad, Linda, and Greg.
Lloyd retired from NSP 28 years ago, having worked as a machinist/welder his entire career. He and Lorraine enjoyed 15 years of wintering on South Padre Island, Texas after his retirement where he spent many hours fishing in his waders out in the ocean.
Lloyd enjoyed playing many years of dartball league. He also loved camping, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and watching sports, especially the Packers and the Badgers. Lloyd and Lorraine loved to travel including going to Germany and Alaska twice. He was an avid gardener, and his yard was always adorned with beautiful flowers. Lloyd was a talented handy man and could fix almost anything. He took great pride in spending time with his family and did so often, taking the family camping up in Holcombe for years. He thoroughly enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls for over 50 years. He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.
Survivors include his wife Lorraine of over 65 years; his children, Brad Benner of Tomahawk WI, Linda (Steve) Atchley of Chippewa Falls WI, and Greg (Melissa) Benner of Chippewa Falls, WI; grandchildren, Crystal Benner, Adam Benner, Laura Atchley, Sarah Atchley, Alicia (Jimmy) Stearns and Isaac Benner; great-grandchildren, Riley Benner and Brantley Repinski; sister-in-law, Cathy Benner; brother-in-law, Jerome Nix; sister, Marlene Bischoff; sister-in-law, Mary Benner; sister, Gale (Jim) Olson; brother-in-law, Harold (Irene) Schiefelbein; sister-in-law, Marge (Gary) Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ewald and Goldine Schiefelbein; son, Douglas Benner; daughter-in-law, Manuella Benner; daughter-in-law, Julie Benner; brother, Arlen Benner; sister, Loretta Nix; brother, Richard Benner; sister-in-law, Nan Benner; brother-in-law, Marvin Bischoff; and brother, Dale Benner.
The funeral service will be at 11a.m., on Monday, February 24 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Daniel Wonderly officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church.
