Lloyd Phillip Bishop, Sr., 88, passed away May 30, 2023, in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was born in Washington County, Maryland on May 31, 1934, to Phillip E. and Iva Weller Bishop.
Lloyd was a loyal and hardworking employee of RF Kline, Inc., where he worked as a road construction worker until his retirement after many years of service. He proudly served in the US Army before this time. Lloyd's personality was one that loved to do what he enjoyed the most - mowing his grass and cutting wood. He had a constant companion in his dog "Buddy", who he loved deeply.
He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, where he found guidance and support throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley A Bishop, Hancock, MD.; Sons - Lloyd P. Bishop (wife Chris), Florida, James A. Bishop, Hancock MD; Daughters - Barbara S. Cohen (husband Dean), Hancock MD, Deb A. Kerns, Hagerstown MD and Carole D Sheller (husband Jason), Hancock MD; Nine grandchildren, Nineteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; brother Jeffrey Bishop, Hancock MD and Sister Vivian Wandless, Warfordsburg PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two great-grandchildren, as well as his two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, MD 21750.
Lloyd will be remembered by all who knew him for his unwavering loyalty to family and friends alike, dedication to his work ethic through many years of service to his employment at RF Kline Inc., and having a kind heart that touched the lives of all who knew him.
