Mr. Lloyd Joseph Cantrell Jr.

Passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the age of 78 from Alzheimers. He was the cherished husband of Gwendolyn Nunez Cantrell for 59 years. Beloved father of Bradley J. Cantrell, Sr., Paula Cantrell Melerine and their spouses Joann Nicosia Cantrell and Tony Ricky Melerine, Sr. Loving grandfather of Shannon M. Cantrell, Bradley J. Cantrell, Jr., Mindy Melerine Licciardi and her husband Sal Licciardi, III, Tony Melerine, Jr. and his wife Channon Miller Melerine. Adored great grandfather of Savanah Cantrell, Sal, IV and Samee Licciardi, and Londyn Melerine. Beloved son of the late Rena Ebanks Cantrell and Lloyd Cantrell, Sr. Loving brother of Walter Cantrell, Winston Cantrell, Phyllis C. Wellmeyer, Carolyn C. Perez and the late Kathleen C. Henderson and Marjorie C. Bowley. He was affectionately known as “Paw Paw� to his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends who are family members. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and cousin who adored his family. Lloyd was a lifelong resident of Violet, LA. He was a retired employee of Murphy Oil Corporation. An evening visitation will be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 West Virtue Street, Chalmette, LA 70043 on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM and again on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Bridget Swafford, Bitsy Serigne and John Davidson of Metro Preferred Home Care for the special care with love they provided. Also Barbara Manuel and Minnie Ruiz for the special care with love they provided. We would also like to thank the many family members and friends who helped over the years to assist him in his time of need.
