ROBERTS - Lloyd K. Flessner, 78, of Roberts peacefully passed away Tuesday evening, April 22, 2025, at home, with his loved ones at his side.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roberts. A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Matt Geerdes officiating. Burial will take place in Lyman Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the Roberts-Melvin Fire Protection District.
Rosenbaum Funeral Home, Gibson City, is assisting the family.
Bud was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Fairbury, a son of Herbert and Laveda (Baker) Flessner. He married Phyllis D. Sans on Oct. 31, 1970, in Roberts. She passed away April 9, 2022.
He is survived by three sons, John Flessner and Joseph Flessner, both of Champaign, and James (Rebecca) Flessner of Paxton; four grandchildren, Ariel (Axl) Denault of Paxton, Austin (Taylor Nelson) Flessner of Forrest, Autumn (Rudy) DeYoung of Donovan and Alexis (Colton) Burr of St. Joseph; and seven precious great-grandchildren, Xander, Isabella, Amberley, Gavin, Layla, Beckett and Hunter, who will join them soon. His sister Evelyn (Alan) Laubscher of Crescent City also survives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Flessner; and a sister, Joan Oster.
Bud was a graduate of Roberts-Thawville High School. He retired in 2001 after 32 1/2 years of dedicated service to the Illinois State Highway Department. He loved farming and everything about it, including raising cattle, sheep and ponies. He collected Tonka trucks, tractors and lawnmowers. When he was relaxing, he enjoyed a good western or "Gunsmoke."
