Lloyd Lamm Obituary

Lloyd "George" Lamm, 82, passed away on Monday, July 17 surrounded by his loving family. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 11:00 am at Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College Street NE, Wilson, NC. Reverend Ray Wells will officiate.

George proudly and honorably served his country as First Sergeant in the Army National Guard Aviation Unit, US Army, and Commander of American Legion Post 13. He also gave back to the community he loved so much by serving on the Board of Directors for the Crisis Center, and Treasurer and Vice President of the Wilson County Fairgrounds. He was also a faithful member of the Evening Optimist Club and Bennett Optimist Club.

George was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

George is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Carolyn Worrell Lamm of the home; daughter, Rhonda Lamm of Wilson; son, Kevin Lamm and wife, Shannon of Elm City; grandchildren, Taylor Murray and husband, Christian, Turner Mayo, Sydney Lamm and fiancé, Austin, Bennett Lamm and girlfriend, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Asher Murray, Rivers Murray, and Marley Murray; and brother, Doug Lamm and wife, Wanda of Wilson.

George was preceded in death by his son, Brennan Lamm; parents, Bunyan Roscoe Lamm and Mollie Gardner Lamm; and siblings, Theron Lamm, Emile Flowers, Ray Lamm, Wayne Lamm, Arlene Lowe, and Hooper Lamm.

The Lamm family would like to thank Minnie "Pearl" Farmer, Kaniya Farmer, Emily Boose, as well as Aushia Kirk, and the rest of the Sunshine Agency, along with Gentiva Hospice for all their love, care, and attention to George.

George was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 13 in care of the George Lamm Homeless Veterans.

I was so sorry to see that George had passed away. George and I served together in the Weapons Platoon, Co A, 1st Bn, 120th Inf, Wilson, NC from Jan 01, 1959 until June 30, 1967, date I transferred to Raleigh, National Guard. George was a very good soldier and excellent leader, and friend. He was section leader of four squads in the platoon which performed well during our many trips to Fort Bragg, NC. I was so
pleased that he made 1st Sgt. We spoke often when he visited my unit in Raleigh. We lost touch when I retired July 31, 1994.
