Lloyd Phillip Scofield was born on October 11, 1938 in St. Boniface, Manitoba and passed away on February 25, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a close bond to those around him.
Lloyd's journey began on a farm in a small town in Manitoba, where he developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the outdoors. After marrying Margo Marie Yolande on August 8, 1959 in St. Boniface, they moved to Calgary in 1967 to seek new opportunities. Lloyd began his career in Calgary managing a hardware store and later worked as a parts specialist for companies such as G.M. and Union Pump, where he and Margo both retired when Lloyd was 62.
A man of quick wit and an infectious sense of humor, Lloyd brought joy and warmth to all who had the pleasure to know him. He delighted in spending time in nature, often fishing with his children and grandchildren, and found solace in woodworking and the companionship of a good dog. He was heartbroken with the passing of Margo in 2019, but was rescued by his furriest responder and furever friend, Tucker. The line was blurred between who rescued who.
Lloyd is survived by his loving son, Ken W. Scofield (Angela Henswaw Marion); daughter, Laura-Lynn Nighswander (John); brother, Gordon Trevor Scofield; grandsons, David Nighswander and Michael Nighswander (Mackenzie); granddaughter, Ashley Nighswander (Logan Ardrey); and numerous nieces and nephews across North America. The family is also grateful for the support and wisdom shared by Bonnie Gallant, whose love and assistance are invaluable.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Margo, his sister Margeret L. Jeffery, and brothers Clinton Ralph Scofield and William R. Scofield.
Lloyd will be remembered not only for his contributions to his career and the joy he brought into the lives of so many but also for the deep connections he fostered with those who loved him dearly.
In leu of flowers, the family would love for you to donate to a cause that was so close to Lloyd's heart, The Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation
A Celebration of Lloyd's life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at Pierson's Funeral Service (4121 17 Ave SE).
