Lloyd Seaton Jr., age 94, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday July 29, 2023. He was born June 29, 1929, in Springfield, Missouri to Lloyd and Naomi (McFall) Seaton. He was the youngest of four children, He was an emeritus accounting professor at the University of Arkansas.
Lloyd experienced a fulfilled and active life with a positive impact across a broad range of friends, colleagues, and students. He served this country as an Army paratrooper in the occupation of Japan. After his military career he was railroader and truck driver while earning college degrees from Bakersfield, San Jose State and Arkansas. He served on the accounting faculties at New Mexico, Nebraska, and Arkansas. He was also visiting faculty at Harvard, New Mexico State, and Arkansas Tech. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Saint Thomas Aquinas and Saint Joseph Catholic Churches in Fayetteville. He served as Dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business from 1983 to 1989. He was an avid sailor, fair golfer and enjoyed travel to Australia and the far east, Europe, and all over the US – often accompanied by his grandchildren. After full time RVing, he and Dorothy became longtime residents at Butterfield Trail Village, where Lloyd served on the garden committee, foundation board and the recyclers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Dorothy Seaton, and sisters Gladys McCall, Gene White, and infant sister Phyllis.
He is survived by his son, Pat Seaton and wife Shelly of Greeley, Colorado; three grandchildren, Cory Seaton and wife Jennifer Solms of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ryan Seaton of Lincoln, Nebraska and Zach Seaton of Kearney, Nebraska; former daughter-in-law Sue Seaton of Kearney; and sister-in-law Lila Day of Houston.
Funeral Mass will be 12:00 pm Monday August 14, 2023, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
